Role of NO in H2O2 regulating responses against temperature and ultraviolet induced oxidative stress in plants

A range of abiotic environmental stresses results in H2O2 generation, from a variety of sources and it has many essential roles in plant metabolism but at the same time, accumulation related to virtually any environmental stress is potentially damaging. NO, another stress responsive molecule, is gaining high attention as a regulator of diverse physiological and biochemical processes in plant science, mainly due to its diverse and multifunctional roles in plant growth, development and regulation in a number of plant cellular mechanisms against responses induced by abiotic stresses like temperature and ultraviolet etc. Along with various other abiotic stress, temperature and ultraviolet can also induce NO synthesis, but its origin, mode of action and metabolism in plants have not yet been completely resolved to a greater extent. But regarding NO-H2O2 signalling and functions, new findings have given an impression of the intricacy of NO-H2O2 related signalling network against abiotic stresses. Cellular responses to these molecules are complex, but considerable crosstalk between responses induced to temperature and ultra-violet stresses are reported by several recent research works. In last few years, the role of NO in H2O2 mediating tolerance in plants to above stresses has established much greater consideration in reference to present scenario of agriculture re-thinking.
